Watching a live stage performance is not something new to me. I was exposed to watching theatre since I was in secondary school. The first theatre that I watched is when I was in Form 3 in
Watching a live stage performance differs from watching the movies or the television. To me, I enjoy watching theater more because the actions are live and there is no room for mistakes. In a television shows, you can make mistakes and the director can just simple cut and edit the faulty scene. Unfortunately, any directors of live stage performance won’t be able to do that. You can’t simple cut and edit a live performance!
Every time when you watch a live performance, even it is the same play, the sensational feeling and the perception of the play differs. This is because every time the actor and actresses are performing, the acting couldn’t be the same as it is a live performance. That is why to me, watching the live stage performance is much more interesting than watching movies because the feeling are real, and when there is a mistake or error in the performance, it is up to the actors and actresses to cover up their mistakes.

After reading what Liyana have said about her experiences regarding live stage performance, I do agree with what she has mentioned. It is true that watching stage live performance is different from watching movie. my first live stage performance was during my trip with my course mates to watch a comedy entitled “Two of Us” in Actor’s Studio Bangsar. For me, it was an experience that I will never forget as it was my first ever stage live performance. At the same time, UPM always organized festival of theatre (FESTIK) which is another way for me to gain more exposition towards live stage performance. I got a chance to watch students performed a play which sometimes I feel that most of them are very talented in bringing out their character. Compares to watching movie and live stage performance, I think watching live stage performance is much more enjoyable than watching movies. Like what Liyana have said, there is no room for making mistake in performing a live show. It is up to the actors and actresses to cover up their mistakes in their own way which must be done in a right way so that the storyline as well as the mood of the play are not affected by their mistakes. At the same time, the director cannot just simply cut and edit a live performance like what can be done to movie. I also agree with Liyana when she said that even though the same play is watch again, the feeling would be different because the actors and actresses are different and their way of acting it will also be dissimilar. They are responsible in developing our perceptions towards the play. Overall, I am in the same boat with Liyana because I do agree that watching a live stage performance is much more enjoyable and interesting compares to watching movie.
